VOICES [FOR BIODIVERSITY]
An interactive artwork by Leonel Moura that broadcasts voices from the natural world in the face of the calamitous extinction of species caused by human action. The installation is composed of a set of 20 “cocoons” each filled with an electronic assemblage including a motion sensor, a micro-controller, a memory card, an RGB LED ring and a speaker. When a “cocoon” detects movement, it randomly reproduces a sound of an animal stored in a mp3 library and lights up the LED. The more people entering the room the more the environment will resemble a jungle disturbed by human presence.
