“A World of Sound” to encourage kids into science

As part of the contributions to the IYS 2020-21, the UK Acoustics Network is editing a collection of articles on A World of Sound for Frontiers for Young Minds Collection aimed at an audience of ages 8-15. All items will be freely available and the part of the collection is described at kids.frontiersin.org/collection/17985/a-world-of-sound.

There are two examples of published articles relating to sound:
kids.frontiersin.org/article/10.3389/frym.2020.00081, and
https://kids.frontiersin.org/article/10.3389/frym.2020.00082.

So this is a great opportunity to communicate interesting aspects of acoustics and to encourage kids into science. To become involved in the process:

  1. Submit a short abstract to describe your proposal at kids.frontiersin.org/collection/17985/a-world-of-sound.
Deadline for this is 8th Jan 2021.
  2. Fifteen to twenty will be selected based on likely appeal to a young audience and invited to submit a short article by 1st May 2021

A balanced representation of topics are sought across all of acoustics, including:
