International Year of Sound 2020-2021
Join Theresa Schulz, Ph.D., chief of prevention and surveillance at the DoD Hearing Center of Excellence, for a presentation that will highlight how the ear functions, how hearing damage can occur when subjected to hazardous noise over time or from a one-time explosion, and the importance of hearing protection to maintain hearing health. It will feature demonstrations showing how sound travels through the ear to the brain, what happens to the ear when subjected to different doses of sound, and how earplugs work to seal out noise, depending on how well the earplug fits.
