Small Screen Science is a science communication podcast which explores the science behind TV shows. Season 2 Episode 1 investigates Blue Planet II. We discuss sound in water, how we use sound to determine when a vessel is full and why we can hear the the difference between pouring hot and cold water. The episode also includes an interview with BAFTA and EMMY award winning re-recording mixer Martyn Harries about the importance of sound and foley in nature documentaries. In series 1 episode 1 (already available) we examine the science behind the Great British Bake Off. During the episode we interview food physicist Prof. Megan Povey about the importance of food acoustics and investigate the sound of snapping chocolate.
