International Year of Sound 2020-2021
VIENNA: MUSIC CAPITAL AND UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE
Vienna is once again hosting the DAGA, having first organized the conference in 1990. The 47th annual conference is taking place at Messe Wien Exhibition and Congress Center – next to the Viennese Prater. Located close to central Vienna, the former imperial hunting ground was declared a recreational space for the Viennese in 1766, and has been home to the Wurstelprater amusement park since 1825. The 1873 Vienna World’s Fair brought the area international recognition.
Due to this year’s experience of 2020, we have the greatest chance – after 2.5 years of absence from DAGA – to finally get together physically again, to examine the work of our colleagues, to get to know the exhibiting companies better, to participate in the extensive excursion program, and to establish and maintain contacts in a relaxed environment at the two planned evening events.
DAGA 2021 is being organized primarily by the Acoustics Research Institute (ARI) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW). The ARI’s 43 employees conduct application-oriented interdisciplinary pure research in acoustics, synergizing findings in the fields of physics, psychology, phonetics, telecommunications, biology and mathematics.
We are looking forward to being your hosts and giving you a warm welcoming in Vienna.
